“Always walk through life as if you have something new to learn and you will.”—Vernon Howard

Regardless of your age or education level, there is always something new to learn and uncover. Undoubtedly, opportunities for learning are all around you! In our vibrant world, there’s so much to do and see that you’ll always find new people, places and topics to explore.

Partnerships with nearby institutions are just a couple of the educational opportunities provided to residents at The Village at Gainesville.

Studies have also suggested that learning new things – at any age – not only widens your worldview, but is also important for reducing your risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease later in life. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, “Formal education in any stage of life will help reduce your risk of cognitive decline and dementia.” The organization recommends taking a class at a local college, community center or online as a way to improve your cognitive health now and in the future.

Taking a class is just one way to learn something new, keep your mind sharp and continue your active lifestyle. Visiting a new place, meeting new people, learning a new skill and even playing a new game are all great ways to be a lifelong learner.
